DESCRIPTION:APPLICATION DEADLINE: JULY 24\, 2026 extended until July 27\, 2026 at noon. NOTE: Applications past the deadline will still be considered. Please be in touch with cheryl.milne@utoronto.ca if you have any course queries. \n📣 Applications are now open for the 2026 Asper Centre Constitutional Rights Clinic! \nThis year’s Clinic will be co-taught by Justin Safayeni\, Partner at Stockwoods LLP and the 2026 Constitutional Litigator in Residence at @uoftjackmanlaw\, alongside Cheryl Milne\, Executive Director of the Asper Centre. \nThis four-credit clinical course gives upper-year JD students the opportunity to work on significant constitutional litigation and advocacy projects. Students gain practical experience in legal research\, factum drafting\, appellate advocacy\, and policy work while helping advance constitutional rights in Canada. \nTo apply\, email a one-page (max) statement of interest to Cheryl Milne at cheryl.milne@utoronto.ca by Friday\, July 24\, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. (noon).\nYour statement should briefly address:\n• Why you wish to enroll in the Clinic\n• Experience with constitutional or human rights issues\n• Other experience relevant to the Clinic\n• Previous upper-year courses in constitutional law or human rights law (or equivalent experience) – not a prerequisite \nApplications received after the deadline will still be accepted\, but priority will be given to those received by July 24 at noon. \nWe encourage all eligible upper-year JD students with an interest in constitutional advocacy to apply! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis fall\, students will have the opportunity to work on the following potential Asper Centre interventions\, including cases about:\n• Enforceability of UNDRIP in Canada\n• The right to housing under s. 7 of the Charter\n• Remedies in an encampment case\n• A potential appeal in the Cycle Toronto case \nDon’t miss out—apply now!
